CommBank lending specialist Amanda Chalmers came to the rescue by securing the couple a new loan type that allows modular building. The result? Their dream live became a reality and the CommBank saved their marriage.

Jamie & Ameka – Nature Takes Shape
Jamie’s futuristic vision finally comes to life—or so he hopes. Using virtual reality, he takes a first walk through his 3D-printed concrete home, seeing for the first time how his design merges architecture and nature. But when the team runs the first real-world print test, things don’t quite go to plan. Back on the farm, pressure mounts as cows devour Jamie’s new fruit trees and DA delays leaves Jamie’s dream home grounded before it’s even begun.

Michael & Helen – Two Homes, One Vision
In the Blue Mountains, the Fox family’s modular home build gets off to a flying start. Separating but still planning to live side-by-side, Michael and Helen work through the challenges of building two homes while keeping life steady for their daughter. Despite their ability to let their personality shine in their own house, they amazingly choose the exact same in their flooring and benchtop discussions — proof that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Sean & Sarah – One step forward, Two steps back
After months of red tape hurdles, Sean and Sarah in Canberra finally get the green light to demolish his icy old home. So it’s geronimo at Sean’s house! But the joy of this milestone doesn’t last long as it’s a case of one step forward two steps back as more red tape means that Sean now needs to dig his house 1 metre into the ground.

As deadlines, family life, and red tape pile up, the pressure mounts. Does it all get too much for Sean?

As Jamie finally marks out the site for his 3D-printed home, he hits a major snag—literally. Problematic soil conditions and mounting DA pressure slow everything down, and to make matters worse, his measurements are off. While Jamie wrestles with the paperwork, Ameka heads to Beaumont Tiles and discovers a stunning mosaic made from recycled TV screens—proof that beauty and sustainability can go hand in hand. Later, Jamie set fire to his new carbon neutral benchtops - proving that beauty can also be tough.

Sean & Sarah – Rising Up

After months of setbacks, Sean’s dream home in Canberra finally starts to rise. Mick’s innovative Rezicast concrete panel system is delivered and installed, and he’s confident he can get the house to lock-up in just ten days—with walls and trusses up in a single day. But can he deliver on that bold promise? When Sarah visits the site, emotion takes over as her long-awaited forever home finally stands before her. 

Michael & Helen – Powering Forward

At Hi-Tech Modular, Michael and Helen are surprised by how far their twin homes have come. The excitement is tempered by financial stress—but Jamie steps in with a surprise: a full solar and battery solution that could turn their energy bills into cash-positive returns. For the Fox family, it’s a much-needed boost, proving that sustainability can also mean security.

Episode Three

“Locking It In”

Jamie & Ameka – Waiting Game
While the Quercinis and Foxes race ahead, Jamie and Ameka are still waiting for their DA approval. But there’s a breakthrough, after multiple failed attempts, Nick and the team at 3D Contour successfully test a new print head, finally capable of creating the intricate, tree-like columns for Jamie’s 3D-printed home. Confident the DA is imminent, Jamie partners with Renewco to design a solar and battery system that will make their house completely grid-independent. As shipments of furniture and materials arrive at the farm, the Durie’s prepare to move in even before construction begins. Jamie sits down with Clare O’Neil MP, the Federal Housing Minister to see how we can work together to cut the housing red tape. 

Sean & Sarah – Locking It In
Sean and Sarah’s precast concrete home in Canberra is powering forward. The walls and roof are already up, and while builder Mick may have missed his original 10-day lock-up target, he’s making up ground fast. Now it’s time to move inside and for Sarah to take charge. Between baby naps and building decisions, she’s determined to put her own touch on their dream home. It’s a frantic race as Mick juggles insulation, windows, and deadlines to finally reach lock-up.

Michael & Helen – Homes on the Move
At Hi-Tech Modular, Rex completes the finishing touches on the Foxes’ twin modular homes. Then comes the moment of truth: the houses; (split into four massive sections) are transported up the Blue Mountains and craned into place. It’s a breathtaking day for Michael, Helen, and daughter Caitlin as their future homes come together before their eyes. Living side by side but apart will take adjustment, but for the Fox family, this is what the future looks like—sustainable, flexible, and full of heart.

Episode Four

Tuesday December 16th at 8.30pm on

The Big Pitch 

Jamie & Ameka – Full Throttle
With DA approval finally in hand, Jamie launches into an all-out sprint to build his 3D-printed home—now miles behind the other families. Nick and the 3D Contour team work around the clock as the walls begin to rise in their sculptural, tree-like forms. Solar, batteries, and off-grid systems arrive on site, but finishing the house in time becomes a massive challenge. And there’s added pressure: Jamie reveals that each family must soon pitch why their home is Australia’s house of the future—on the lawns of Parliament House.

Sean & Sarah – Home at Last
The Quercinis finally move into their precast concrete home, and the excitement is instant. Their bold new bathrooms and sleek, modern kitchen deliver everything they dreamed of. As solar is installed and they connect to Amber Energy, Sean and Sarah realise the future is fully electric—with the promise of never paying a power bill again. Settling in feels surreal, but the upcoming pitch in Canberra brings new nerves and new stakes.

Michael & Helen – A New Beginning
For the Fox family, moving day has arrived. Michael and Helen settle into their twin modular homes while daughter Caitlin begins adjusting to her own space—just next door, but a world of independence. The energy-positive system kicks in, easing the financial pressure that’s weighed on the family throughout their journey. With their homes complete, the Foxes turn their attention to the big finale in Canberra, where they’ll stand alongside the other families to make their case for the house of the future.
